About the Medical Reserve Corps
National Level - Division of the Civilian Volunteer Medical Reserve Corps (DCVMRC)
The DCVMRC is headquartered in the Office of the U.S. Surgeon General. It functions as a clearinghouse for information and best practices to help communities establish, implement, and maintain MRC units nationwide. The DCVMRC sponsors an annual leadership conference, hosts a Web site, and coordinates with local, state, regional, and national organizations and agencies to help communities achieve their local visions for public health and emergency preparedness. State Level – Florida Medical Reserve Corps
The Florida Medical Reserve Corps Network was established to effectively facilitate the use of private volunteers in emergency response.
What is the Medical Reserve Corps (MRC)? The Medical Reserve Corps (MRC) is a national network of local groups of volunteers committed to improving the health, safety and resiliency of their communities. MRC volunteers include medical and public health professionals, as well as others interested in strengthening the public health infrastructure and improving the preparedness and response capabilities of their local jurisdiction. MRC units identify, screen, train and organize the volunteers, and utilize them to support routine public health activities and augment preparedness and response efforts.
The Florida Medical Reserve Corps Network comprises 32 local units, covering 55 of Florida's 67 counties.
Florida Medical Reserve Corps units are community-based and function to locally organize and utilize health professionals and other volunteers who want to donate their time and expertise to promote community health and respond to emergencies.
